ROSL ARTS is pleased to present a series of recent still lives by British artist Francis Martin. The paintings on display render classic still life elements, from the presentation of pears on a plate to red onions across a tablecloth.

“Each arrangement is intended to explore ideas of texture, colour, perspective and design. The paintings were made from life over many sessions using the consistent north light of the studio. As a result, natural changes occurred in the subject matter such as the yellowing of the once green pears and the cherry blossom which wilted and had to be painted very quickly.”

After the quiet and stillness of recent times, the ability to capture a fleeting moment in paint comes alive once more as the Brabourne Room welcomes back our members and guests.
