ROSL provides educational bursaries in Kenya through the Langalanga Scholarship Fund, a UK-based charity which offers scholarships to bright but needy children from rural communities.
The development of these education welfare projects depend upon the individual generosity and support of ROSL members. It costs £500 per year per pupil for secondary education.
ROSL also recently funded the Simon Ward Memorial Centre, a teaching room and learning centre, at a remote school in the Rift Valley. Read a recent article from Overseas on the project here. As part of the project, ROSL prizewinners Kabantu worked with children from Riverley Primary School, Leyton (Griffin Schools Trust) to produce performances to send to the Simon Ward Music Centre at St Andrew's Tarabete School in Naivasha, Kenya. In 2020, the ROSL Trust made a donation of £5,000 to the Kenya Society's COVID-19 Appeal which works with Rotary in Kenya to combat the effects of COVID-19 through their newly established Girish Ravel Fund.
