In 2010, our centenary year, Alex May, Research Editor of the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, contributed a wonderful biography of our founder, giving a unique insight into Sir Evelyn Wrench's life, aspirations and motivation, taking in his happy childhood in Co. Dublin, falling out with Gandhi, an tireless work to develop and promote ROSL.

As we speak, ROSL's latest exhibition is being installed at Over-Seas House. The work of artist Rosemary Clunie and writer Ben Okri, the exhibition wraps the Central Lounge in a story and the viewer is transported through the text and images that flow within the space.

One of the most quintessentially British luxury labels, DAKS specialises in fine tailoring and accessories for both men and women. ROSL members receive 15% discount in the Bond Street store; simply present your valid membership card at the till, but do you know the history? DAKS explain all...

Will you be celebrating the life of Scottish poet, Robert Burns, with the traditional Burns Night supper this evening? A celebration among Scottish people not just in Scotland, but around the world, the supper contains a number of traditional stages which are usually followed.

This time last week was the first of our six drawing classes of 2019. Members are already getting excited about the second class in March!

December saw the launch of ROSL’s second Incognito exhibition, which saw anonymously donated postcard artworks sold to raise money for our education projects throughout the Commonwealth. There's still time to get yourself some affordable art before the exhibition closes at the end of January.

The street on which ROSL has its home dates back more than 300 years and understandably holds a special place in the hearts of many members. An article in the August 1935 edition of Overseas entitled 'The Romance of St James's' gives a potted history of the street and its famous residents.

You don't have to visit the London clubhouse or your local branch to get the benefit of ROSL membership, you can also take advantage of more than 100 reciprocal clubs around the world to get 'home from home' experience wherever you travel.

Over the festive break our Visual Arts Curator, Eilidh McCormick got the chance to visit the newly opened Collective exhibition space in Edinburgh, and she recommends you do the same.

In 2019, Overseas will celebrate its 104th birthday. Read Adele Smith's potted history of the changes to the journal over the course of the past century.
