The ongoing maintenance and renovation of ROSL's London clubhouse has bore considerable fruit this week, as several projects have made big steps forward in unison. 

ROSL’s London clubhouse is made up of three buildings, one of which, Rutland House, is now hidden from view behind the Westminster Wing. It is not forgotten, however, as Juliet Learmouth uncovers the history of this building and its unusual gestation in the latest issue of Overseas

Winner of the 2019 Annual Music Competition Gold Medal, trombonist Kris Garfitt tells Mark Brierley how he made it all the way to the Queen Elizabeth Hall and where he plans to go from here. 

In the June 1985 edition of Overseas, then-Vice-Chairman Godfrey Talbot LVO OBE, penned an article for the journal in which he recollected his relationship with our Patron, HM The Queen, over the years. It's heartening to see that, some 34 years later, many of his opinions on her still ring true today. 

The fifth annual BBC Music Day takes place next Thursday 26 September, celebrating the power of music in changing lives, with thousands of events and concerts taking place across the UK. ROSL will be taking part with a special concert from the NOK Orchestra is a Nigerian performing group formed in 2015 by the Nigerian-Irish born British composer and multi-instrumentalist, Tunde Jegede. 

The latest instalment in our Evelyn Wrench Lecture Series returns on 25 November, with Her Excellency Ms Yamina Karitanyi, High Commissioner for Rwanda to the United Kingdom, joining us to discuss Rwanda as a modern Commonwealth nation, the challenges of reconciliation after conflict and the opportunities presented by being the host of CHOGM 2020. 

In our ongoing 'Your ROSL' series, Australian member Stephen Jones gives us a perspective on the club from someone who might not visit the clubhouse that often. What is most important to him? 

Last night saw the launch of ROSL's latest exhibition, Drawn to Architecture, which sees 11 artists displayed around the clubhouse, who work in a range of media, but all who take architecture as their subject. 

The new ROSL Supper Club, which brings together interesting and informative talks, with delicious food and drink, will launch on 14 October. Our first speaker will be Jill Day, the first female Serjeant at Arms in the House of Commons and Head of the Commonwealth Association of Serjeants at Arms. 

To celebrate the opening of ROSL's latest exhibition, Drawn to Architecture, this week, Overseas spoke to one of the exhibiting artists in the latest issue. Anne Desmet RA, tells us about the overlap between the two disciplines of art and architecture and how it has influenced her work.
