We are pleased to announce the 2019 winners of the ROSL Photography Competition are Isabella Agbaje from Nigeria and Zoral Naik from Pakistan winning the Camera and Mobile categories respectively, with their works Holding Hands (above) and Pastel Dogs (below). In addition, The Madiha Aijaz prize for a young photographer of promise has been awarded to Bangladeshi photographer Amdad Hossain for their work Joy of Childhood (bottom).
The Royal Over-Seas League launched the ROSL Photography Competition this year to showcase contemporary culture in the Commonwealth with the theme of ‘Style’. The competition received over 250 entries from 21 countries around the world, offering a diverse interpretation of the theme. Judges Rakesh Mohindra, Renée Mussai, Germaine Walker, Bryan Angelo Lim and Farah Mahbub narrowed down the final selection with the winners of each category being selected unanimously by the London panel and ‘The Madiha Aijaz prize for a young photographer of promise’ was awarded by Farah Mahbub in memory of her colleague and friend.
More than £3,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to our winners, as well as exhibition and publishing opportunities. Their images, as well as the top 20 photographs selected across both categories by our panel of judges, will be printed, framed and exhibited at Royal Over-Seas League in London, from Tuesday 10 December 2019.
