One of ROSL's founding principles, as enshrined in our Royal Charter, is to promote international friendship and understanding. This is achieved through our many international branches, our education projects and our arts programme. The latter provides scholarships for international musicians and visuals artists and performance opportunities around the world, to get ROSL out beyond the four walls of the clubhouse. This weekend, two ROSL Annual Music Competition headed to the Buxton International Festival.

Jonathan Radford saxophone and Ashley Fripp piano took to the stage at Buxton's Pavillion Arts Centre to perform a programme that included Gershwin, Shostakovich, Weill, as well as a newly commissioned piece, Algernon, by composer Cheryl Frances Hoad.

Afterwards, Director of Marketing Gemma Matthews, along with Jonathan and Ashley, hosted a drinks reception where audience members could meet the musicians and find out more about them. It was also an opportunity for attendees to find out more about ROSL over a drink and a chat.

ROSL will be staying on the road next month with its Edinburgh Festival Fringe programme again taking place at the Royal Scots Club from 5 to 16 August. 31 concerts across the two weeks will see ROSL Annual Music Competition alumni along with our 2019 international scholars from around the Commonwealth, come together to perform three concerts per day. Take a look at the full programme here and buy your tickets here.

We will also be celebrating 20 years at the Fringe with a special gala concert on Thursday 8 August at 7pm, with many faces from the past two decades returning to perform. Take a look here.
