The first of 2019's Annual Music Competition (AMC) Section Finals is now within sight, on Tuesday 12 February to Solo Wind and Brass musicians will be the first to take to the stage in the Princess Alexandra Hall.

This is definitely not to be missed, the winners of the last two competitions have come from this section, and the repertoire on offer always throws up some fantastic and memorable performances.

In 2017, it was bass trombonist James Buckle who walked away with the Gold Medal and £20,000 first prize, followed swiftly by saxophonist Jonathan Radford at the 2018 AMC. Take a look at his performance of Mark-Anthony Turnage's Elegy at last year's Final below.

With such high-calibre musicians in this section, it is the perfect introduction to the AMC and a great way to see the future stars of classical music. The breadth of instruments on offer and the international make-up of the musicians, from as far afield as Malta and Hong Kong this year, will ensure a great evening of music making.
