2019 looks set to be a stellar year at ROSL, with a number of new events to look forward to, alongside your old favourites, which aim to put arts and education at the heart of ROSL, as set out in our Royal Charter.
Things start with a bang with the Annual Music Competition taking place over six weeks from Tuesday 12 February. Every Tuesday evening another section final takes place at the clubhouse, with all the soloists fighting for a chance to win the Gold Medal on the Southbank in June at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
New events include Tuesday Night Commuter Concerts, hour-long recitals featuring ROSL prizewinners, jazz, choral music and the Britten Sinfonia. A perfect way to unwind after a long day, easy to pop into on your way home.
We also have life drawing classes, photography workshops, ArtFund talks and exhibitions, which all provide more opportunities to support young artists, musicians and authors than ever before.
In June, we will welcome Dame Patricia Routledge for a musical and theatrical collaboration with ROSL alum Piers Lane, to tell the extraordinary story of Dame Myra Hess and her famous war-time concerts.
These all sit alongside member favourites including Commonwealth Day Service, Trooping the Colour, and House of Lords afternoon tea, supplemented with Summer Garden parties in July and September.
In 2019, ROSL will also getting out on the road with more regional events - including our celebrations of 20 years at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
