Last night, members gathered around the Christmas tree in the Central Lounge to get ROSL's festivities underway.

The gathered crowd were in full voice for the Clubhouse Carols, ably led by pianist Peter Foggitt and mezzo-soprano Helen Sherman, who took us through such classics as Away in a Manger, Ding Dong Merrily On High, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Hark! The Herald Angel Sing, O Come All ye Faithful, O Little Town Of Bethlehem, Once In Royal David's City, Silent Night, and The Holly and The Ivy. To give members a breather, and a chance to sip their mulled wine or cider, and scoff a mince pie, Helen took centre stage at several points throughout the concert, treating those assembled to some beautiful Christmas favourites.

Afterwards, many of the attendees headed upstairs to the Hall of India and Pakistan for the Christmas Quiz. Quizmaster Stephen Arkell, from the Brain Men, set some challenging questions for us, ranging from Shakespeare anagrams, to Christmas trivia, via a numbers round and even a 'Nightmares in Wax' picture round!

The winning team, Quizmasses, took home a magnum of pink champagne, courtesy of Graysons, with second place receiving a £25 voucher for the Brabourne Room, and third place a season ticket to the 2019 Annual Music Competition. Congratulations to the winners!

Thank you to everyone who came along last night and we hope to see you again before the year is out.
