... of Gosia Zych, Deputy Manager for Graysons, at ROSL.

How long have you been at ROSL and how did you hear about the club in the first place?

I joined ROSL team in September 2017. That’s 15 months already! I have known Patricia (our Sales Manager) for a long time and one day she mentioned that Graysons were looking for a Deputy Manager for the Royal Over-Seas League. I sent over my CV and went for an interview and was lucky enough to be offered the position. I hadn’t heard of ROSL before, I think it’s still a bit of hidden gem.

Can you describe an average day?

No two days are ever the same, so it keeps me on my toes. Hospitality is very much reliant on the human factor, so it can be very changeable. But there is a one definite routine at the start my day, and that’s a lovely cup of coffee! Following that I walk around the building, checking on the team and making sure everyone is doing fine and reviewing any handover notes from the previous day. I always try to balance my time between personally overseeing the restaurants, bars and events and working on any projects that benefit the level of food service we can offer.

What are the best things about the job and what do you wish you could change?

The people I work with are the best thing! A wonderful team is a key to success (and personal happiness) in every organisation, and I’m grateful for the team I have around me.  One of the best things about my job is to help people grow and develop in their roles, we’ve got several team members that have gone from strength to strength.  I’m also very proud I work for ROSL and can support all activities, wonderful concerts and exciting art exhibitions.

If I could change one thing, I wish our staff could bring family and close friends to the club on special occasions. It’s exceptional building with lots of history and beautiful views. Most of us are proud to be a part of ROSL life. It would be great to be able to share it to our loved ones.

How do you spend your time when you're not in the club?

London is an amazing city that has so much to offer. I try to take advantage of it and see as much as I can: exhibitions, food markets, theatre & music concerts… there is so much going on every day. Art is a big part of my life, too, and London has a huge variety of accessible art exhibitions and showings.

I also love being outdoors and travelling; you learn so much about yourself and open your horizons.

Would you recommend people to join or even to work here at ROSL?

Of course! I always speak very fondly about ROSL to people I meet. There’s a really great variety of benefits to becoming a member and I think it offers incredible value for money.  It’s a great institution and an exciting environment to work in so we’re always happy to have great personalities join our team.
