If you're planning to visit London in September you've made a brilliant choice. The summer hasn't quite left the city, but it no longer feels like you're going to melt every time you step on the tube. The days are still long enough tomaximise your time, and there are a whole host of events taking place.

audience 868074 1920We have plenty going on in the clubhouse this month, from Shakespeare in the Garden and an album launch, to a tour of Buckingham Palace and our next Evelyn Wrench Lecture Series instalment. But, what are you going to do with your time when you're not enjoying our member events or our beautiful clubhouse? Firstly, you've picked a wonderful month for visiting London. You'll get to see the start of London shedding its summer skin and donning the multicoloured jacket of autumn, which means our parks are simply stunning and not too cold to enjoy. Secondly, some of London's biggest events take place in September like London Fashion Week.

It can get a little confusing on what to pick, and how to make the most of your time in the city - especially when you're only staying for the weekend - so we've updated our What's On page to include our top suggestions on what to do in London. Most of the exhibitions and events, are unique to the month and so are definitely worth trying to put in to your calendar.

Why not check out the Totally Thames Festival? Running throughout September, it brings a whole host of events, exhibitions, live music and parties to venues around the river. Highlights include the Great River Race, the Classic Boat Festival, and the Bascule Chamber Concerts. Or be a part of one of the largest open-air classical events of the year at the BBC Proms in the Park, where legendary artists, choirs, and presenters such as Michael Ball, Gladys Knight and Matt Goss will be taking to the stage. If you prefer something quieter we recommend booking yourself on to a Painted Hall Ceiling tour at the Old Naval College, where this month is your last chance to see this 18th century masterpiece up close and personal.

What will you choose to do during your stay? Check out our What's On page for the full low-down on what to do in London this September.
