Dr Diana Owen officially takes up her post this morning as the new Director-General of the Royal Over-Seas League.

You may have seen her over the last few weeks, as she has visited the London clubhouse to familiarise herself with the club, its staff and the members.

Today the real work begins as she takes the mantle from Major General Roddy Porter, who stood down as Director-General in August. Diana joins us from a career spent largely in the not-for-profit sector; at the National Trust and Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, in Stratford-upon-Avon, where she has spent the last ten years as CEO.

You will be able to read an in-depth interview with Diana in the next issue of Overseas magazine, where she will discuss her past careers, initial impressions of ROSL and plans she has for the organisation in future. Also keep an eye on the ROSL News section of the website, where Diana will write to you all directly in the coming weeks.

We wish her well in her new role and if you would like to get in touch, please direct your messages to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
