On a beautiful sunny late spring day for which only Paris seems to have the secret, ROSL members based in Paris and the environs were treated to a magnificent luncheon at the world famous UNESCO Headquarters. They had the honour of being hosted by one of ROSL's most distinguished overseas members, HE Ambassador Laurent Stefanini, Permanent Representative for France to UNESCO, who had kindly invited several ambassadors from Commonwealth nations to join the luncheon.

After a cocktail of champagne and canapes and very warm words of welcome by Ambassador Stefanini there was lively discussion on many subjects over a sumptuous menu of summer salad and artichokes, beautifully cooked duck and a delicious cherry dessert.  Of course following the election of President Macron, French politics was one unavoidable subject, as was Brexit, and given President Trump's imminent announcement; Climate Change, clearly a high priority for many countries represented. Importantly, Ambassador Stefanini described the work of ROSL in promoting the arts and culture and how these values were aligned with those of UNESCO.

All members present were very happy to have attended and certainly it will be only the first of other events in Paris!
