MILLY FORREST WON THE 69TH ROSL ANNUAL MUSIC COMPETITION SINGERS PRIZE ON TUESDAY 21 SEPTEMBER AND WAS AWARDED £5,000 AND A SOUGHT-AFTER PLACE AT THE GOLD MEDAL FINAL ON 24 NOVEMBER 2021. AMONG FOUR SOLOISTS, MILLY’S TECHNICAL POLISH, PROGRAMMING AND RANGE OF INTERPRETATIONS WON OVER THE AUDIENCE AND JURY ALIKE. 

MARIE SATO WON THE 69TH ROSL ANNUAL MUSIC COMPETITION SOLO WIND & BRASS SECTION PRIZE ON TUESDAY 24 SEPTEMBER AND WAS AWARDED £5,000 AND A SOUGHT-AFTER PLACE AT THE GOLD MEDAL FINAL ON 24 NOVEMBER 2021. AMONG FOUR SOLOISTS, MARIE’S COMMITTED PLAYING WON OVER THE AUDIENCE AND JURY ALIKE. 

The Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL) is pleased to announce Nisha Duggal as Artist-in-Residence in partnership with Riverley Primary School in Leyton, East London. Thanks to generous funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Nisha will create original artworks in response to the heritage and communities of ROSL and the pupils and locality of Riverley, to be displayed at exhibition events in mid-July. 

Last week saw Eleanor Corr violin win the Gold Medal and first prize of the ROSL Annual Music Competition and prizemoney of £20,000. This is the first violinist to win the top award since 2016. Eleanor and her fellow competitors, Sirius Chau flute, Siân Dicker soprano and Dominic Doutney piano performed at Over-Seas House in front an esteemed industry panel of adjudicators, led by Professor Gavin Henderson CBE. 

Trombone quartet Slide Action won the 68th ROSL Annual Music Competition Mixed Ensembles Section Prize on Tuesday 6 October and were awarded £10,000. Among four ensembles, the ensemble impressed the jury with their exceptional blend and musicianship. 

ROSL is pleased to announce two new Scottish music scholarships to fund course fees for students studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow and St Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh.
