Last night, new and prospective members gathered in the Princess Alexandra Hall for our New Members' Reception to learn more about ROSL, what they can expect from their membership, and the clubhouse's facilities.
With members coming from as far afield as Australia, they got a chance to meet staff from each of our departments; including ROSL ARTS, Education Projects, Membership, Accommodation, Graysons, Branches, Member-led Groups, as well our partnership organisations. Representatives from Davy's, our wine supplier; D.R Harris, local pharmacists; and paul.a.young, local chocolatier; were all on hand to showcase the discounts available to members. Take a look at the full list here.
At 7pm, Artistic Director Geoff Parkin took to the stage to welcome all the attendees, and introduce each department in turn, before giving us a snapshot of the kind of talent that the prestigious Annual Music Competition produces. Pianist Ashley Fripp, winner of the 2011 Annual Music Competition Keyboard Prize, gave a virtuosic performance of Caprice Espagnol by Moritz Moszowski to the delight of the crowd.
Throughout the evening, attendees were able to go on guided tours of the clubhouse and see first hand what facilities were available to them in their new home from home.
Don't worry if you weren't able to attend last night, the next New Members' Reception will take place in May 2020. Watch this space for more details as they become available.
