How did you first hear about ROSL?
I first heard about ROSL through my wife Philippa. We have a friend who is a member and uses the club to meet her London-based nieces and nephews. The friend, and Philippa, suggested that we have a look as we have a need for a base in London most weeks of the year. We were shown around just before Christmas 2017 and I must say we were immediately enchanted, and completely sold on the idea of joining, which we did a month later!
How long have you been a member?
So we joined in January 2018 and have never looked back.
Which three words would you use to describe ROSL?
Generous. Creative. Inclusive.
What do you enjoy most about being a member?
The fact that members of all nations are welcomed here. I’ve loved making a large number of new friends. The location is fabulous and it is so much nicer than staying in a hotel. The views over the park speak for themselves. The common areas like the Drawing Room and Duke of York Bar are great places to chill out and decompress. We love the arts programme and the music programme. We acquired one of the paintings that were exhibited this year, and have since had the chance to meet the very talented artist which was great fun. I also went to the music competition final this year on Southbank and loved it, especially how everyone gets a prize. The standards of both art and music are so incredibly high. And the staff - in all areas - are all totally fabulous!
What one thing would you change?
When first here the checkout was 12 noon which I found very helpful, now it is 11am, it would be so nice if it were to revert to 12?
