Today we meet Reception Manager Pavlina Callery, the first person many of you see when arriving at the clubhouse.
How long have you been at ROSL and how did you hear about the club in the first place?
When I moved to London from Bulgaria in 2007 I was attending language school in Croydon. One of my classmates worked at ROSL and she introduced me to the ROSL catering team. I started work at ROSL in May 2008 as a waitress in the Brabourne Room and two years later I was fortunate to join the reception team where I have worked for the past eight years.
Upon arrival, I review the diary detailing the previous night's events and complete the handover with the morning reception team, ensuring to respond to any outstanding correspondence. Then I liaise with the other departments, managing the guests' request and queries. The highlight of my working day is often my brief walk around St James's Park or when a member compliments the service they received during their visit.
The best thing about the job is meeting new and interesting people from all over the world. I have been very fortunate during my time at ROSL to have met and developed long-standing relationships with members. ROSL has, in many ways, been a second family for me and I have made lifelong friends whilst working at the club.
How do you spend your time when you're not in the club?
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family in local parks, gardening, baking, and travelling.
I would highly recommend people join ROSL because it is a unique organisation that offers more than convenience, the club ultimately strives to help those less fortunate all over the world and to nurture young talents. Working at the club, with the support of the senior staff, I have continued to develop in my role and I would recommend to anybody searching for a career to consider ROSL, I have really enjoyed my time at the club.
