To celebrate the birth of renowned British suffragist Millicent Fawcett, on 11 June 1847, whose statue was recently unveiled in Parliament Square, ROSL looks back at an article she penned for Overseas in 1917 entitled 'When we have the vote'.
Our founder, Sir Evelyn Wrench, was ahead of his time in many ways, especially equality, having opened ROSL membership to women from its founding in 1910. In 1917, he introduced a regular column in the Overseas journal called 'From a Woman's Standpoint', which was dedicated to giving voice to the issues affecting women of the day.
