By now, many of you will have received numerous emails for companies across the EU discussing the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and what it means for your data.

We’ve decided not to email everyone individually because of the risk of our message being lost in the crowd, but rest assured, we take the protection of your data seriously. The team at ROSL is committed to making sure your data is safe, and it’s important you know how your data is being used.

As such, we have updated our privacy and data policies and made them easily accessible on our website at www.rosl.org.uk/privacy.

It tells you everything you need to know about what data we collect when you become a member, visit the website, or interact with ROSL through other channels, how it is stored, and what it is used for.

In short, we use the personal data you provide to service your membership. This includes sending membership renewal documents (by post and email), delivery of the Overseas Journal, plus regular newsletters about forthcoming events, activities, and club news.

Look out for the carrier sheet with the next edition of Overseas, which should be arriving on your doorstep in the next couple of weeks, which offers you the opportunity to update the contact details we hold for you and your preferences on how you receive communications from us.

Make sure to fill this in and return it to us to ensure you can stay up-to-date.
