Whether you're in Edinburgh or London over the festive period, our members will be singing loud and clear, so join in the carols and get into the Christmas spirit.

In Edinburgh, members will come together at 10am on Saturday 9 December at the clubhouse to enjoy a coffee and some good company, before gathering around the Christmas tree to sing carols. You can then spend the rest of the day in the Drawing Room with a glass of mulled wine and a good book. Book here to take part.

RS Dec9 Clubhouse Carols

Meanwhile in London, our local parish church, St George's, Hanover Square, will be hosting our Festival of Carols on Sunday 10 December, at 3pm. Open to members and guests, you can enjoy performances ROSL ARTS musicians and the ROSL Christmas Choir, join in with some carols and then return to the clubhouse for afternoon tea and a visit from Father Christmas!

This will be the first year in which we venture to St George's, famous for its connection to George Frideric Handel, who moved to the area while the church was being built. He was involved in the selection of the organ and part of the panel which auditioned the first organist. Gerard Smith, nephew of the builder of the St Paul's Cathedral organ, built the first organ in 1725. Since then several new organs have been built in the old case, the most recent by Richard, Fowkes & Co. of Tennessee, US in 2012. Handel's Messiah is now performed regularly at the church, having been composed nearby at his house in Brook Street.
