Violinist Mathilde Milwidsky won the String Competition at the 2017 ROSL Annual Music Competition (AMC), marking the start of what we hope will be a long association with ROSL.
As this month's 65th anniversary concerts have proven, which featured ROSL ARTS alumni from as far back as 1994, the AMC is just one of many opportunities to develop professionally and perform with fellow musicians that ROSL provides. Since competing at the Grand Final in June, Mathilde has already joined us for a recital at St James', Piccadilly, and will be performing at this month's Chairman's Dinner.
Born in 1994, she made her Royal Festival Hall recital debut in 2014. Her studies began at the Royal College of Music Junior Department as a Tsukanov Scholar under Viktoria Grigoreva and Professor David Takeno. As well as performing at Cadogan Hall with ROSL, Mathilde has performed as a soloist at venues such as Wigmore Hall and the Royal Albert Hall, been broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4, and the BBC One Show.
As well as winning the Strings Competition at the 2017 AMC, Mathilde also recently won a place on the St John's Smith Square Young Artist Scheme 2017/18, a Drake Calleja Scholarship, as well as further awards from the Hattori Foundation, the Philharmonia Orchestra's Martin Musical Scholarship, the Tillett Trust and the Sir John Cass Foundation.
