The team from London headed up to Edinburgh yesterday morning to join with the branch committee in welcoming new and prospective members to our Edinburgh clubhouse.

The new members reception started with a drinks reception and was officially opened by our Chairman Sir David Brewer. Sir David warmly welcomed everyone to Scotland and gave his personal thanks to the team who had worked tirelessly to pull off the evening. Amongst those his biggest thanks when to Helen MacPherson, the chairman of the Edinburgh branch, and her team who continue to put on an exemplary programme of events consisting of monthly Art Lunches and Coffee Mornings.

Sir David then went on to give some well deserved praise to our ROSL ARTS team who recently put on a stunning array of concerts as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe at the Edinburgh clubhouse. In order to demonstrate to our new members, and those who were thinking of joining us, we had the pleasure of inviting Tom Poulson trumpet, to perform for us. Tom won this year’s Philip Jones’ memorial prize for outstanding brass player.

Tom entertained his audience with a beautiful ‘stolen’ piece for trumpet, from Bach via Vivaldi, which set the cheerful tone for the rest of the evening.

Here at ROSL we would like to extend our thanks and the hand of friendship once again to all those, old and new, who came to support us last night.
