We're pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for the 2021 ROSL Annual Music Competition.
The competition offers more than £75,000 in awards with a £15,000 first prize for solo performers and chamber ensemble awards of £10,000. The winners of the Wind & Brass, Singers, Strings, and Keyboard solo sections and the collaborative piano prize receive £5,000 each.
Now in its 69th year, the AMC is a mainstay of the classical music world, helping to identify and promote some of the finest young musicians the world has to offer, from violinist Robert Cooper all the way back in 1952, through greats such as Jacqueline du Pre cello and Melvyn Tan harpsicord, to last year's winner Kris Garfitt trombone.
Open to any musicians under 30 with a connection to the Commonwealth, the support offered by ROSL doesn't just stop at the prize money. Alumni become a part of the ROSL family, going on to be afforded many performance opportunities at major venues such as Wigmore Hall in London and many UK festivals and promoters including Brighton, Buxton, RLPO, Kings Lynn, Lake District Summer Music, and North Norfolk. ROSL award-winning series of chamber music concerts in Edinburgh is a well established fixture of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In recent years, ROSL has organised concerts and tours for prizewinners in Australia, Canada, Malta, New Zealand, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Antigua and Zimbabwe for AMC alumni.
