Gabrielle Cayoun, student in Classical Piano at the University of Tasmania, has been awarded the $1,000 Royal Over-Seas League Tasmania Branch Prize in Classical Piano.
Chosen as having given the best classical piano performance by a student in the final Semester Two exams, Gabby has written to ROSL to thank Tasmania branch members for generously donating the prize:
"Dear Royal Over-Seas League,
"I am writing to extend my most sincere thanks to you for awarding me the ROSL Tasmanian Branch Prize in Classical Piano for my performance last semester. I was thrilled to learn of my selection for this honour and I am deeply appreciative of your support.
"I am currently a second-year student at the UTAS Conservatorium, majoring in Classical Piano Performance. I plan to graduate at the end of 2021 with hopes to develop my experience as a musician and gain new opportunities. Thanks to you, I have already begun to achieve this goal.
"Thank you again for your support and inspiring generosity. I hope one day that I will be able to help others achieve their goals just as you have helped me.
"Sincerely, Gabrielle Cayoun"
Members living locally will have the chance to see her perform later this year when quarantine restrictions have been eased.
