Richard studied painting at Grimsby, Maidstone and the Royal Academy of Arts, London where he held a final year, successful one man show at the RA Schools Gallery.
The RA Schools Richard Ford Travel Scholarship, to study at the Prado, Madrid. The (Canadian) Elizabeth T Greenshields Award. David Murray Landscape Award, The Windsor and Newton Watercolour Prize.
The Artist has exhibited regularly in a variety of London exhibitions including the Royal Academy Summer Shows. Richard was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1976 and has exhibited there every year since. Amongst the many mixed exhibitions, Richard has exhibited at: The New English Art Club Royal Society of Portrait Painters Royal institute of Painters in Watercolour Laing Landscape Exhibitions Royal Overseas League John Player and BP Portrait awards at The National Gallery London Singer -Friedlander/ Sunday Times Watercolour Exhibitions Commercial galleries include: The Towner Gallery, Eastbourne, Neville Gallery, Canterbury, Barry M Keene Gallery, Henley, Hallam Gallery London, Llewelyn-Alexander Gallery, London; Gallerie Belvedere Singapore, Medici Gallery, London, Anna Mai Chadwick Gallery, London; Russell Gallery, Putney, Bourne Gallery, Reigate; Terrace Gallery, Worthing: Linden Hall Studio, Deal: ect. Richard regularly demonstrated painting and exhibited his work for nine years at The Art in Action Festivals, Waterperry, near Oxford.
The artist works in oils, watercolour and occasionally acrylics. He divides his time between commissioned portraits, landscape, marine painting, architectural subjects and still life. His work is represented in the National Art Collection, as well as private collections in the UK and abroad.
