The Chairman of the Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL) Mr Alexander Downer AC is delighted to announce the appointment of the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd.) as ROSL’s Patron in the Commonwealth of Australia.

ROSL has over 3,000 members in Australia who enjoy events run by local branches and also access to a worldwide network of reciprocal clubs and ROSL’s own prestigious headquarters at Over-Seas House in St James, London. ROSL members organise many musical events and other gatherings and have supported ROSL’s charitable arm, the ROSL Golden Jubilee Trust. Most recently, Australian members raised the funding for the first computer laboratory for Selwyn College, in Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands.

“I am delighted to become the Royal Over-Seas League’s Patron in Australia,” the Governor-General said.

“ROSL brings members together and symbolises friendship both in the local community and internationally. Its members do terrific work for charities and I look forward to working with them over the next five years as Patron.”

The Royal Over-Seas League was founded in 1910 to promote international friendship and understanding throughout the Commonwealth and beyond. Mr Alexander Downer took over as Chairman in May 2019 and in Australia Mr Jason Ronald serves as Chairman. Her Majesty the Queen is the ROSL’s Patron worldwide.
