How long have you been at ROSL and how did you hear about the club in the first place?
22 years. I saw an ad in the paper, it was the Evening Standard, around about 1995, then I applied for the interview and started. My first boss, head housekeeper, was Mihaela, from Finland, and she was a very stern woman! After that, I had Daisy, then it progressed into Emma Kovacs, who's been here a few years now.
It's the usual; looking after the place. Making sure everything is tidy, making sure that all the conference rooms, public areas, everything around the building, is spick and span.
The only thing that's a bit tedious is the brass. So much brass to polish! But apart from that, everything else is fine. I do get the opportunity to speak to the members, which is nice. I've met some great people over the years.
How do you spend your time when you're not in the club?
I like to travel. I'm going back to America in November for three weeks. I've got a sister and brother-in-law there in New York, so we stop off and see them. We're going to start off in San Diego and work our way around, stopping off in Los Angeles and Charlottesville, coming through some other little towns, ending up in Philadelphia. Then we'll head to New York.
Would you recommend people to join or even to work here at ROSL?
Definitely, I would recommend it. I like everything about the club, I wouldn't change a thing. If you ever see me around, be sure to say hello!
