ROSL Book Talk: The Buildings of Green Park by Andrew Jones

From June 15, 2021 18:30 until June 15, 2021 19:30
Categories: ROSL Events

This is a live in person event, happening at the ROSL Clubhouse

Andrew Jones will be talking about his new book, The Buildings of Green Park.

The book was researched and written during the first lockdown of 2020 when the usually peripatetic Piccadilly resident decided to combine his permitted 1-hour daily dose of outdoor exercise time with photographing and documenting each of the buildings and monuments in and around Green Park. What started as a series of Instagram posts turned into a book about the 65 structures in and around the park, including, of course, The Royal Overseas League.

The book tells the stories of each of these buildings and monuments – exploring both their architecture and their history - from the majestic Lancaster House to The Ritz Hotel, and The Hard Rock Café, where Lord Elgin once displayed the Parthenon Marbles. The book has a Foreword by Alain de Botton about the importance of living in the present and of appreciating one’s immediate surroundings.
