The Pestalozzi Asian Village for children was established in 2003 at Dehradun in Northern India. There are currently 168 children aged 11 to 18 of Indian, Nepalese, and Tibetan origin.
They live in village houses with a house mother and attend some of the best English medium schools. The Doon School is perhaps the most famous in the area.
In keeping with Pestalozzi principles of 'Head, Heart and Hands', the students get practical training in a range of skills including carpentry, sewing, gardening, computing, and more recently the playing of musical instruments, singing, and dancing.
