Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL)

ROSL is excited to announce the artists chosen to attend this year's ROSL International Residency are Cole Ndelu from Johannesburg, South Africa, and Dimple Shah from Bangalore, India. These two artists will soon arrive in the UK and spend the months of September and October at The Art House in Wakefield, developing their creative practices and networking across the UK with the support of ROSL. 

I was invited to attend and participate in the Eastern Himalayan Forum in Guwahati on 1 and 2 November. Approximately 150 delegates from 25 countries took part in the forum to share their knowledge and expertise in landscape scale conservation, both of natural and cultural capital. 

The final event in our series celebrating the UK-India Year of Culture and 70 years of Indian independence, takes place on Thursday 3 August, with a talk from Abhaey Singh, aimed at demystifying India.

On a scorching Saturday, with weather more akin to Mumbai than Mayfair, the London clubhouse played host to the annual Summer Ball, this time themed to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Indian Independence.

Today marks the 70th anniversary of the independence of India, which saw the British Raj partitioned into the majority-Hindu India and the majority-Muslim Pakistan on 15 August 1947, just two years after the conclusion of the Second World War.

It was today 65 years ago that man finally reached the top of the world, with New Zealander Edmund Hillary and Nepalese sherpa Tenzing Norgay reaching the summit of Mount Everest.
