The development of joint welfare projects was initiated in 1995. The first project supported travelling eye camps in Sri Lanka in association with the Colombo Eye Bank and Singapore.
The long-term joint ROSL/Namibia project funds school bursaries for San (Bushmen) and farm children in Namibia in association with the Ministry of Education.
Funding
The project is funded by the generosity of individuals, ROSL members, ROSL London and Bridge groups, ROSL branches, IBSS international bankers club and donations from Swan Hellenic, Cox and Kings, Dorling Kindersley and other organisations.
A percentage of certain Hebridean International Cruises will be donated to the project as from September 2006.
